Traditional with a twist

‘Traditional with a twist’ epitomizes this residential project on the fringe of Riyadh’s desert. Playful and balanced modern minimalism paired with warm, earthy textiles create a farmhouse that is sleek and welcoming.

Light and airy rooms stretch both outwards and upwards. The scale of the interior is further exaggerated by the use of white for both walls and floors, creating a curated gallery effect. Deep reds representing the rich sands of the Sahara woven into the carpet bring color and interest to the space while hand-crafted objects and Sadu textiles covering cushions and chairs pay homage to the owner’s Arabic origins.

Natural Juxtaposition

Overall balance of tradition and contemporary

Expansive white couches fill the space, creating a sense of peace while also providing areas for rest and comfort. For overall balance, deep woods, lush greens, and vintage furniture express the more traditional aspects of farmhouse decor and design.

A mix of lighting blends traditional with contemporary. Throughout the villa a theme of crisp, clean white lines balances against dark, rounded shapes. This theme of opposites extends to a guest bathroom where an exposed natural stone wall hosts a stately, modern double sink.
